If I can say anything about my pregnancy experience it would be that I am blessed with amazing doctors that are located within five minutes of my house! I believe that God is taking care of me and the baby completely by leading me to such amazing doctors. I met my latest doctor yesterday afternoon. This will be the doctor who actually delivers the baby. She is wonderful. She is actually the niece of the first doctor who performed my surgery in November. Grant didn't make it to this appointment.
Fortunately he didn't miss much. It was really just a consultation. She seems very nice and relaxed and confident in her practice. I will see her every month from now until the baby is born (that seems so far away).

The next important appointments will be next Wednesday. I will see two doctors that day. One will be checking the cysts and the other will be checking the blood clot. Plus we will get more pictures of the baby! I am currently praying that the blood clot will disappear without harming the baby and that the cysts will begin to shrink. I pray that the baby will continue to grow strong and healthy.

I cannot wait until week 12! When we get to week 12 we will be out of the first trimester and into the second. Statistically, risk for miscarriage is decreased once you enter the second trimester. Only seventeen days away. I pray that the Lord will get us there quickly and carefully! I am ready to put all of these anxious feelings away and be happy about the beautiful baby that he is creating for us!

Update on Baby Wood

We had our follow up appointment with the Perinatal Specialist this afternoon. Good news! The blood clot has decreased in size by 1/2. The doctor said that this is good. He said "we are not out of the woods yet but we are better". What a relief! The cysts has twisted and is showing signs of bleeding. He said that this may cause some discomfort. He also said not to ignor any pain from that area. If I start to have intense pain on my right side then I need to give him a call. He hopes that the cysts will go away on its on but it is possible that I will have to have surgery to remove it around 14 weeks.

We do not have a picture to share today because the printer was being worked on. The nurse said that they save our pictures and will give them to us at our next appointment. So next week we should have two pictures to post. The baby looked good. The heartbeat was 171 which the doctor said is good. The baby measured at 9weeks and 1 day.

Overall we feel that it was a positive day! Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. Our next appointment is tomorrow with the OB. I'm not sure what to expect from that appointment but at least it will be nice to meet the Doctor who will deliver the baby!

We begin this blog 9 weeks into our pregnancy. So much has already happened. Lets start from the beginning. The very beginning... We started trying to get pregnant in May 2009. Three months later we started working with a Endocrinologist in Augusta, GA. After two rounds of clomid and HCG shots (administered by Grant ouch!) and one insemination nothing happened. By November we were ready for some answers. Amazingly we stumbled upon our current doctor here in Atlanta. He preformed a surgery called endometrial laprsocopy. Through this surgery he found that I did in fact have endometriosis. After the surgery he wanted us to try naturally for three months using the Clear Blue Easy fertility monitor. Well, I am not sure if it was the surgery or the monitor or a combination of both but we got pregnant!

We found out we were pregnant December 18, 2009 at 7:15am. I will never forget it. We were so excited. We probably took five test that morning. When I got to work I called my doctor and they wanted to do a blood test immediately. The blood test determined that I was pregnant. We celebrated by calling all of our family members and telling our closest friends at our annual Christmas party that night. We were on top of the world (and still are)!

On January 1, 2010 (6 weeks) I woke up to a not so sweat surprise. I was bleeding. I paged my doctor and he sent me to the emergency room. After doing an ultrasound and several blood test the ER doctor diagnosed me with a threatened miscarriage. He prescribed bed rest until I could get to my doctor on Monday. Things were not fun around our house that weekend. I cried, Grant cried (a bunch), and we spent the weekend in a horrible haze. Monday finally came and I got to my doctors office as soon as I could. To our relief the baby's heart was still beating. The doctor put me on progesterone 200mg each night. He said that this would help support the pregnancy. During this ultrasound he also noticed a very large cysts. He said that this cysts will hopefully go away but if it doesn't then he will remove it by 14 weeks.

A few days went by and the bleeding finally stopped. I was feeling much better but still scared. We saw the doctor again on January 12 and things were good. The baby's heart beat was 140 beats per minute. We also got a picture of our beautiful baby. Three days later I was bleeding again. I rushed to the doctor's office and they saw me immediately. The baby was well. The heart beat was 130 beats per minute which the doctor said was good. This was when the doctor identified the blood clot. The blood clot or subchorionic hematona was located in my uterus above the baby. The doctor told me that there is noting that can be done about a blood clot. He put me on a baby aspirin each day. He said that my body will either absorb the blood or it will try and find its way out. At this time he gave us a 60/40 chance of the baby surviving. I went home and spent the weekend in bed.

I love my doctor! He called me Saturday morning at 9:30 just to check in. He is so amazing! He also suggested that I see another doctor the following week. He referred me to the Atlanta Perinatal Consultants for high risk pregnancies. We saw the new doctor this past Wednesday. They performed another ultrasound where we got to see the baby again. There is nothing better than seeing that beautiful heartbeat. This time the heartbeat was 169 beats per minute. We also saw the horrible blood clot. This doctor said that he has seen this many times before. He said that he has seen women with larger clots go on to deliver healthy babies and he has seen women with smaller clots go on to have a miscarriage. He said that we have to take it one day at a time and see what happens. He will see me once a week from now until the end of February. I left his office not knowing how to feel.

And that brings us to the present. We are now 9 weeks pregnant and scared as can be. Our next appointment is Tuesday and hopefully we will have more pictures to post. The doctor is monitoring the blood clot. Hopefully it has gotten smaller.

And now this is our prayer: Dear God, Cover the womb with you love. Bless this child with a supernatural awareness of your presence. May he/she always know that you are with him/her and experience fullness of joy. May he/she always be sensitive to your Spirit, Lord and walk in your truth. As he/she learns to bond with us may he/she also learn to bod with you, father. I thank you, Lord, that you see our baby's substance even as he/she is being made in secret. You know him/her intimately. Begin even now, Lord to call him/her to prepare his/her heart to respond to you. Grant health, strength and vitality to this precious child a you form him/her in the womb. Lord Jesus, I thank you for your great love for children. My heart rejoices in your goodness, and I bask in your blessings and in your salvation. I dedicate the life and future of this unborn child to you and your service.

Amen
