Here is Charlotte's latest close up. Grant already thinks she has the Sams nose. Today she weighed in at a huge 9 ounces. The doctor says that she is right on schedule and seems to be growing normally. Unfortunately, the placenta has settled itself right on top of my cervix (sorry if this is too graphic for some). The doctor says that because of the way that it has implanted there is really no chance of it moving before delivery. This opens us up for a whole array of risk factors. First, it is guaranteed that we will have to have a c-section between 36 and 37 weeks. That means that baby Charlotte will be born either the last week of July or the first week in August. We pray that we make it to at least 36 weeks so that she is fully developed and has the healthiest start at life! Second, I was told today that I need to prepare to go on bed rest around 28 weeks. This will be the first week in June. Hopefully I will be able to go on bed rest at home and not in the hospital. The doctor said that in some cases where there is bleeding (again, sorry to be graphic) the pregnant mother-to-be has to stay in the hospital for an extended time until they can stop the bleeding. So we are also praying that I will be able to be at home on bed rest and not in the hospital. Last, because of where the placenta is there is a chance that it could affect Charlotte's growth. I have to be checked every three weeks by ultra sound to make sure that her growth is progressing normally. At this time she is growing at a normal rate and we hope that this continues! In the mean time it provides us comfort to see her every couple of weeks. We are going to have full album of pictures before she is even born.
Grant and I thank all of you who have continued to pray for us and Charlotte Grace. Please pray that Charlotte will continue to grow and that we will have a safe delivery at 36 weeks.
