18 Weeks!

We are 18 weeks today! According to all of the baby websites the baby is now the size of a sweet potato. 5 & ½ inches long from head to rump. I am growing by the day. It is hilarious to hear all of my students at school. Everyday they have something new to say about my appearance. “Mrs. Wood, your stomach is so big today!” Trust me, they don’t hold anything back. If they think it, they say it!

I am feeling good but a bit nervous. It seems that every time we go to the doctor we have something new to worry about. Grant and I had a huge trip planned for spring break and it now looks like we will not be able to go. We were going to San Francisco for five nights and then to Dallas for three nights. Unfortunately, my regular OB does not feel comfortable giving me clearance to go that far away without seeing my specialist. I have an appointment with him Thursday and we are thinking that he will probably say that the trip is off. Everything that I have read has said that women with high risk pregnancies will not be allowed to fly.

Right now we are praying that the baby will not be born before 36 weeks.
Both my OB and the specialist say that if the baby has not decided to come before then they will deliver her by C-section at 36 weeks which will be the first week in August. It is so weird to think that we might actually be able to pick our baby’s birthday. Any suggestions? It will have to be
between July 30 and August 6.

Baby's Room

Ok, since all the post have been written by Laura, I though I might add a few things. Laura is 17 weeks 2 days, and is dealing with a little head cold, but she and baby are doing great. We have a doctor's appointment Wednesday with our OB, and I am anxious to hear what she has to say about our San Francisco/Dallas trip. Laura is still considered high risk, and I want the ok from our doctor so I can stop worrying so much. But honestly, the worrying won't ever stop. I've got to keep my girls safe! So we'll let you know how it goes. Last week we picked up our crib and dresser, and spent most of the day moving it into the house and putting it together. Thanks Brent for your help! Putting it together was nothing compared to cleaning out the room. I have been using the room as a guest/office/Grant's closet for the last four years, and needless to say it was full of all kinds of stuff. The closet alone took me 5 hours to clean out. But, I got it done, and Baby C (this is what I have been calling her) now has a room all for her. Laura filmed me trying to put the crib together and took a few pictures of the finished product. There are no before pictures due to the fact that Laura is too embarrassed to post them.

It's A Girl!

Yesterday was an extremely exciting day. We finally confirmed that we are having a GIRL!!! I say confirmed because some how everyone already knew.
It is crazy but intuition is real! It was so exciting. Grant was jumping around like a crazy man. He even identified the gender before the ultrasound tech could get the words out. Needless to say we are thrilled! It will be the first granddaughter of both our families. One thing is for sure she will have a lot of big brothers to keep her safe! I am especially thrilled because I know that Grant is going to be the best Daddy to our little girl! He already treats me like a queen; imagine how spoiled this little girl is going to be!
